"The mission of the Byron Area Schools is to educate ALL students to become productive members of society"
As we get further into the winter season we are likely to encounter driving conditions that prompt the closing of schools. Here is some information that may be helpful to your family this winter.
Roads in the Byron Area School district are checked beginning at 5:00 AM or earlier depending on the weather forecast. The transportation director and the superintendent evaluate road conditions. Our primary concern is to be able to safely operate buses and transport students to school. A final decision is made by the superintendent to either close school for the day or call for a delay. Ideally this decision is made by 5:45 AM so we can begin notifying parents and employees.
Notification of the media, parents and staff begins as soon as the decision to close or delay is made. The notice will be posted on our website and sent out using Instant Alert assuming we have Internet access. We notify the following media sources:
§ WFMK – FM99.1 (Lansing)
(They also notify WITL-FM100.7, WJIM-FM97.5 and WJIM-AM1240)
§ WHMI – FM93.5 (Howell)
§ WCRZ - FM107.9 (Cars 108 – Flint)
§ WRSR – FM103.9 (Flint)
(They also notify WWCK, WDZZ and WFDF)
